About the role
ResPublica is a Westminster based think tank. We are looking to appoint an experienced and committed Advocacy and Communications Campaign Manager to join our team. The Advocacy and Communications Campaign Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a campaign about asbestos and how public policy can best address its life-threatening dangers. The UK has the highest rates of Asbestos Related Disease (ARD) in Europe and ARDs are the UK’s number one occupational killer, by far. Current health and safety standards in the UK allow for asbestos to remain undisturbed and left in-situ, with monitoring standards that fall below those of other European nations. The ultimate goal of this campaign would be to reorder the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) parameters around this material, so that they are properly reviewed and amended to reflect the genuine risks to public safety. This would bring UK regulation into line with more advanced and effective European practices.
