Policy and Campaigns Manager

Full time | Fixed term contract (12 months) or consultancy basis

Closing date: Sunday, 6 October 2019

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience + Benefits

About the role

ResPublica is a Westminster based think tank. We are looking to appoint an experienced and committed Advocacy and Communications Campaign Manager to join our team. The Advocacy and Communications Campaign Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a campaign about asbestos and how public policy can best address its life-threatening dangers. The UK has the highest rates of Asbestos Related Disease (ARD) in Europe and ARDs are the UK’s number one occupational killer, by far. Current health and safety standards in the UK allow for asbestos to remain undisturbed and left in-situ, with monitoring standards that fall below those of other European nations. The ultimate goal of this campaign would be to reorder the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) parameters around this material, so that they are properly reviewed and amended to reflect the genuine risks to public safety. This would bring UK regulation into line with more advanced and effective European practices.

Essential requirements

Alongside your strong experience of running campaigns and working in an advocacy environment, either in an agency or in-house, you will bring:

  • Proven experience and demonstrable success in planning, delivering, and evaluating public policy campaigns
  • Experience in shaping campaign messages and themes to positively influence stakeholder perceptions and opinions
  • Strong project management experience – working with colleagues across different disciplines to drive activity to completion, delivering against deadlines, and reporting on progress
  • Substantial media relations experience including national and regional print, broadcast and online media. Experience of liaising with journalists on social media.
  • Experience of leading and managing others, including external associates, to deliver against objectives, ensuring delivery on time and on budget
