DESCRIPTION:DOWNLOAD THE CONFERENCE PROGRAMME \nThis conference seeks to analyse the British conservative intellectual traditions that often go unnoticed in the background of C/conservative politics. \nThere is a strand of thought that posits the Conservative Party and conservative thought as anti-intellectual. Indeed\, within the party there used to be a suspicion towards intellectuals\, due to the modernist temptation of intellectuals to determine politics without a democratic mandate. Yet\, there is no high-quality policy making without intellectual work invested. Since the time of Edmund Burke serious intellectual work has been done to meet the challenges that C/conservatives\, and in general\, Britain had to confront.
