'Re-energising Our Communities' praised at Prospect's Think Tank Awards 2012

ResPublica's Green Paper on Community Energy comes in second in the Energy and Environment category

ResPublica is pleased to have come second in the Energy and Environment category at the Prospect Think Tank Awards 2012.

The judges praised ResPublica’s publication Re-energising Our Communities: Transforming the energy market through local energy production for “its analysis of the potential benefits of local energy production”, saying that: “Marrying localism with energy policy is ingenious and some of the recommendations to government were sophisticated—even practical.”

The award show was held at the Royal Society, on 10th July, and was presented by Lord Mandelson.

The judging panel, chaired by Bronwen Maddox, editor of Prospect, included Baroness Vadera of Holland Park, consultant and former government minister; Richard Lambert, chancellor of the University of Warwick; Nader Mousavizadeh, chief executive of Oxford Analytica and former special assistant to Kofi Annan; and James Elwes, deputy editor of Prospect and former editor of Financial World.

The evening's winners were: Bruegel, who was awarded both Global Think Tank of the Year and European Think Tank of the Year; Social Market Foundation who was presented with the UK Think Tank of the Year award, as well as the Economic & Financial policy award; and Resolution Foundation, who won Publication of the Year and the Social policy category.
