Amidst the Welfare Reform Bill’s passage through the House of Lords and in light of the Government’s Child Poverty Strategy released in April 2011, ResPublica has hosted a half-day conference on 'Child Poverty: New Welfare Models, New Social Partnerships'. Key reforms via the welfare bill have shifted the importance of lifting youngsters out of poverty to the fore of the political agenda, in the form of some of the more radical policy changes proposed by this government.
The event has been an opportunity to look at the broader spectrum of stakeholders and their roles and responsibilities in addressing these ongoing societal problems as well as to discuss the efficacy of the reforms suggested.
