Launch of John Seddon’s latest book, 'Delivering Public Services that Work: systems thinking in the public sector - case studies’

at NESTA

We are delighted to announce the launch of acclaimed public sector thinker and ResPublica fellow John Seddon’s new book, and invite you to join us in celebrating the occasion with a lunchtime panel discussion.

John Seddon's sustained campaign to get rid of the 'dangerous nonsense' of targets, benchmarks, quangos and assessments in the public sector has alarmed central government officials and civil servants but delighted chief executives and managers in local government, the NHS, police and elsewhere.

John Seddon advocates systems thinking as the proven, successful and cheaper alternative to the compliance regime. Those who follow and apply his ideas achieve performance improvements that make official targets look un-ambitious. This book of case studies, written by public sector managers, describes systems thinking in action. The book is published by Triarchy Press, and edited by an independent academic from Queen's University Belfast, Dr Peter Middleton.

The event will include a short presentation and discussion from a panel of leading practitioners as well as contributors to the case studies.

The panel discussion will be followed by Q&A. A buffet lunch will be served.
